Donald Chaiken Building Industry Technology Academy (BITA)
The mission of the Donald Chaiken BITA program is to provide a trained workforce to meet industry demand, offset worker retirement, and avoid labor shortages. BITA also enhances the public perception of the building industry, its diverse career opportunities, and hardworking employees.
About Donald Chaiken
The Donald Chaiken Building Industry Technology Academy (BITA) namesake is a result of a generous grant by the Donald and Carole Chaiken Foundation. Their contribution supports hands-on training, scholarship, and building industry workforce development programs.
Curriculum
The Donald Chaiken BITA program is a Career Technical Education (CTE) pathway program. BITA 1 – 3 are UC/CSU approved under the elective (g) subject requirement. Students learn skills and knowledge needed for future careers or education in the building industry.
Donald Chaiken BITA Scholarships
“If I could go back, I would select BITA over any other subject, because BITA taught me to build, not just furniture, but confidence, and that is not taught in any other course.” -Leny Orozco, Mammoth Electric.
Industry Support
Donate tools, visit high schools for guest speaker appearances, schedule construction site visits, and mentor a Donald Chaiken BITA student today. Industry support is the driving factor for the Donald Chaiken BITA program.
“By contributing to the BITA program, I hope to generate the interest of young adults in our industry and help them develop the skills needed for success.”
