JOAN MARCUS WEBB

The New Home Company

Joan’s career in the homebuilding industry has spanned over three decades. Joan co-founded the Webb Group in 2022 which provides advisory and consulting services to the homebuilding industry.  Joan served as Chief Marketing Officer for New Home Co.. She joined New Home Co. not long after the company was founded in 2009 and played an integral role in establishing the company’s brand through a commitment to architectural excellence, award-winning buyer experience, customer service and innovative, technology forward marketing programs.

She was a part of the executive team that guided New Home Co. from a private homebuilder to a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange.  She led the Company’s marketing, design studio, and escrow teams, held the Company’s Broker License and provided best-practice management for the sales teams in all New Home Co. divisions.

Prior to New Home Co., Joan led the interior design team of a Dubai-based international developer. Before that, she was Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Design for Laing Luxury, the luxury homebuilding division of John Laing Homes. During her tenure, she managed more than $1 billion in sales of residential properties throughout Southern California. During her career, Joan has served other top builders including Brookfield Homes and Taylor Woodrow Homes.

She served as Chair of the California Homebuilding Foundation Board of Trustees in 2016, the first woman to hold that position.  She has been named Chair once again and will be serving in that role for the Foundation in 2024. With her involvement in establishing the John G. Colvin Memorial Scholarship through the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce, Joan was elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the Irvine Forward Foundation in 2022. What Joan loves most about her involvement with both the California Homebuilding Foundation and the Irvine Forward Foundation is the ability to be directly involved with their scholarship programs.  Joan is also committed to her work with Interval House, an organization that provides comprehensive domestic violence services and housing programs in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

Joan served as President of the BIA/OC Board of Directors in 2015, the same year she founded the BIA/OC Women’s Leadership Conference, an annual event held in Orange County, California. The conference has attracted more than 700 attendees annually and is the first of its kind under the Building Industry Association.

In 2015, she received the Max C. Tipton Memorial Award, which for fifty years has recognized the most influential thought leaders in the Southern California homebuilding industry.  She is also the recipient of the prestigious B.J. Stewart Women’s Achievement Award.  Joan was inducted in the California Homebuilding Hall of Fame in 2019.  She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. Joan has two daughters and lives with her husband Larry in Corona del Mar along with their goldendoodle Charlie.
