Matt Koart is the Chief Operating Officer of PulteGroup, Inc., a Fortune 500 national homebuilding company based in Atlanta, Georgia, operating in 44 markets and 21 states, and generating over $16B of revenue in 2022. 

Previously, Koart was the founder of Koart Residential, Inc., a group of privately held companies focused primarily on entitlement, development, construction, and private equity investment within the California residential real estate sector.  Koart has also served as Chief Executive Officer of Shapell Industries, Inc., a multi-billion dollar diversified real estate development firm located in Beverly Hills and with operations throughout California, and as a Division and Area President for PulteGroup.  In those roles, Koart managed up to 7,300 annual home sales and over 1,200 employees.  Throughout his career, Koart has developed tens-of-thousands of homes throughout California and Nevada and, more recently, on a national scale.

Early in his career, Mr. Koart was an attorney with Allen Matkins et al in downtown Los Angeles where he focused on land use and transactional real estate law.

Koart graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California’s undergraduate Marshall School of Business and, subsequently, graduated fourth in his class from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.

In addition to Mr. Koart’s real estate career, he also excelled in athletics as a defensive lineman for the 1981 – 1986 University of Southern California football teams.  His athletic honors include Academic All-American, defensive player of the game in USC’s 1985 victory over UCLA and the Jess Hill Trophy (most outstanding senior athlete).  The Green Bay Packers drafted Mr. Koart in the 5th round of the 1986 NFL draft.

Finally, Mr. Koart has been married to Judy Koart for over 30 years, and has three children, Hailey, William, & Eva.
