GEORGE H. GENTRY

The Gentry Company

George H. Gentry is president of the Gentry Company of San Diego, a diversified development company which brings a quarter century of leadership to its field.

From its inception, the Gentry Company has emphasized development innovation, underscored by the pioneering Planned Industrial Development (Pill) concept of industrial/office building development. To date, over 400 Pill buildings have been created under George's supervision totaling over two million square feet. The Gentry Company has built 4,000 single family homes in the San Diego area as well as elderly and low income housing within the San Diego community .

George Gentry has been a significant leader in the building industry. He has served as president of the San Diego Building Contractors Association, president of the Pacific Coast Builders Conference and president of the California Building Industry Association. Additionally, he has been active for 20 years in the National Association of Home Builders.

George's dedication to his industry has generated some truly outstanding projects. He has received two coveted Gold Nugget Awards for building excellence from Builder Magazine at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference, and a SAM Award from the San Diego Building Contractors Association.

George is a founding member of the California Building Industry Foundation Board of Trustees. In 1989, George was inducted into the California Building Industry Hall of Fame, and was also the recipient of the PCBC Rodney Radom Award. George has chaired the California Building Industry Hall of Fame since 1985.

George passed away in March of 2007.
